William Bradford was born in Austerfield of Yorkshire in England, where he later goes onto the Netherlands before sailing
to the New World which begins the story of the United States.
William Bradford, was the governor of Massachusetts for many years prior to his death. Raised a family in harsh conditions
and persevered through many difficulties and never loss his religion and faith in God and goodness.
Married
twice, losing his first wife, Dorothy May, upon the arrival of the Pilgrims in New England and later remarrying a widow, named
Alice Carpenter also from England, upon her arrival to the New World.
With Dorothy he had left a son behind
and with Alice he would have three children, and our link comes from this marriage.
In various books written about William Bradford and from William Bradford diaries, his ethics and strengths are many.
His choices were difficult, but he made them in good judgment and built a town with many pioneers through the hardships of a difficult
land.
He is a mad who is to be admired, with fortitude and determination. He had strong values and he did his best in all his
duties.
A true painting of William Bradford is not known, so we truly don't know what he looked like, but his image is portrayed
in a statue in Plymouth which is as magnificent as the man.
